The Frame |
|
Well it has been a while since my last update thats what happens
when you buy a house. As I find my self still a little short of money I decided to leave
the other wheel for a while and make a start on the frame as this will cost considerably less than the wheel with all
that chrome . And it will be nice be able to start to bolt parts back in to the bike. |
The picture to the right
shows all the parts that require painting. In general the parts are in pretty good condition. Though
the frame had a crack on ether side of the rear mudguard someone has had a go at fixing them
by riveting two pieces of metal over them. They need to be repaired by welded and dressed before
painting. The pictures below show first one of the cracks as it looked when I got the bike you can see
how someone has riveted a small plate over the crack. the second picture shows the
crack after the plate has been removed the third one show the repair though to be fear

the picture does not do it justice. My engineer Beere
engineering have done a nice job
it will only require a smear of filler before painting
Now that all the parts have been striped
down and cleaned they are off to be sand blasted. The tank will not be sent off with the other parts as am
going to use this to color match the paint. The paint under the chrome side cover is mint. If you look closely at
the picture of the parts you will see I have left the left hand side hand grip on the handle bar this is the
original Honda handle grip |

It is in very good condition and any attempt to remove it would have damaged it
so it will have to be well masked for both sand blasting and painting. |
